Exhibition 2 by Aditya

The progress in my presentation is going really well as we already started sticking the economy, nature, society and well-being things on but we need more pictures. The inside is going to much harder and it will take us lots of time so we also have to start managing our time well.

We have achieved sticking what we are going to talk about and the road scene. We will now start putting the other things like some trees, pollution and the other things we were supposed to put.

Ms. Dawn and Mr. Chris have helped us already. The ideas given by Ms. Dawn are really good but they are extremely hard to work on. So our group is thinking of considering only some of the ideas.

The things that have caused us difficulty are that first we weren’t able to decide that do we want to make it 2D or 3D. Then our group argued a lot on small things. Sometimes the whole group went to check a room or for card boards. Our group shouldn’t have done that but only 2 people should have gone.

My plans for the next few days is to finish the second box. If we will have more time then we will make something like a video, prezi or something.

My group needs help with the second box as we are going to start that soon. But I think my group can sort that out ourselves.

Exhibition 1

Today I learnt that the water boats are a good and quick transport but people don’t use it as it does not match their status and it is really dangerous. I also learnt that even though tuk-tuk is a good transport many people don’t use it as it more expensive than taxis. Only the tourists use the tuk-tuk. I learnt that the traffic problem in Bangkok is also because of shortage of roads. Only 8% of Bangkok is covered with roads compared to 20% in Tokyo.

I also learnt that more people are buying sport-utility cars which require more fuel and cause more pollution. I learnt that the locals who walk wear masks to protect themselves from the pollution. But other people say that the mask is not protective as the harmful gases can go through the mask.

Today I finished my A3 paper’s economy part. I already finished the others. I am researching at home too.

My sources were internet. I think I should use different resources such as books.

My plans for the next few days is to find more information, do 2-3 more interviews and by then I think it will be presenting time so we will start getting ready.

My TOPIC: Acess to Basic needs, Poverty and Child Education

Today, I got to meet two guest speakers. They were both parents of the NIST student.

Today, I achieved to get more information for my exhibition Topic. I learned alot about Slums in Bangkok.

 I learned that the Khlongtoei Slum is the biggest slum that has about 80,000 people living. I learned that some of the people living in the Slum are refugees from Myammar, Cambodia and many countries around Thailand. I learned that they are really poor and their house is around the size of my bed room. When I heard that, I felt really bad for them.

My Questions I have…..

1. How many Slums are there all together around the world?

2. Why does Ms. Ajee ( I don’t know how to spell her name) let her children to go to NIST, if she really want to understand how the people living in slums live?

3.  Where does the people living slums get their Basic needs from?

4. How many people lives in the second biggest slum in Bangkok, Ding Daeng Slum?

For the Next few days, I would like to keep on researching on my cornell note taking sheet about the places or a community that is poor and does not get acess to their Basic needs and education.

How To Be Organized By: Erika, Mari, Sanjana and Rayisht

1.Make a folder for every member in your familly.

2.Make a planning journal.

3.Organize all of your materials, books, notebooks, etc.

4.Make a plan that includes budgeting the amount of time needed for different subjects, break times, and due dates for assignments.

5.Use an assignment notebook to record all homework and long-term projects.

6.Organize all your books, notes, handouts, flashcards, study-guides,
Choose to study during the time of day or night when you are most alert.

7.Take scheduled breaks during long homework assignments.

8.Make sure to check your assignments for errors before turning them in to your teacher.

9.Ask teachers, parents, and tutors for extra help and clarification.

10. Help your child get into the habit of using a “to-do” list. Checklists can be used to list assignments and household chores and to remind children to bring appropriate materials to class. It is recommended      that children keep a small pad or notebook dedicated to listing homework assignments. Crossing completed items off the list will help children feel a sense of accomplishment.

11.Children should study in the same place every night where supplies and materials are close at hand. This space doesn’t have to be a bedroom, but it should be a quiet place with few distractions. Young children may want their study space near a parent. This should be encouraged, as parents can then have the opportunity to monitor progress and encourage good study habits.

12.Children should know that a certain time every day is reserved for studying and doing homework. The best time is usually not right after school, as most children benefit from time to unwind first. Parents should include their child in making this decision. Even if your child does not have homework, the reserved time should be used to review the day’s lessons, read for pleasure or work on an upcoming project.

13.Help your child keep track of papers by organizing them in a binder or notebook. The purpose of a notebook is to help keep track of and remember the material for each day’s classes and to organize the material later to prepare for tests and quizzes. Use dividers to separate class notes, or color-code notebooks. Having separate “to do” and “done” folders helps organize worksheets, notices and items to be signed by parents as well as provide a central place to store completed assignments.

14.Children should be encouraged to go through and sort out book bags and notebooks on a weekly basis. Old tests and papers should be organized and kept in a separate file at home.

15.Before your child goes to bed he/she should pack schoolwork and books in a book bag. Clothes should be ironed and laid out with shoes, socks and accessories. This will cut down on morning confusion and allow your child to prepare for the day ahead

16.Help your child develop organizational skills by photocopying checklists and schedules and taping them to the refrigerator. Give children gentle reminders about filling in calendar dates and keeping papers and materials organized. Most important, set a good example.

17.Use large rubber bands to hold books and folders by subject area together.

18. Have a special folder or place for homework and for notes to parents. Carry this folder to all classes and home every day.

19. As you finish a class, put the books, papers, and homework assignments you need at home in your backpack. That way at the end of the day, you are already packed to go home.

 20.Have a separate project folder to keep all your project information and papers together in one place.

21.Check each morning to be sure that you have pencils, pens, paper, and other class supplies to take to your classes.

 22.Always keep extra pencils and pens in your locker or anything.

 23.Keep extra lunch money in your locker in case you forget to bring your lunch or lunch money.

 24.Keep all papers neatly in folders so they don’t get crinkled.

25.Anything you don’t need at school, take home immediately.

26 .Take home anything that you are not using; such as papers, jackets, or note cards.

 27.Put your name on EVERYTHING with permanent marker or tags; including jackets, books, and eyeglass cases so you don’t loose it.

28. Leave a big piece of cloth to with lots of pockets to keep photos,pens,letter,and ipod, phone books etc on your wall.

29.Keep your destop calender.

30.For a book use book marks to keep track where we are.

31.Sepparate kinds of books on your book shelf. (It can be anything and anywhere)

32.Keep a home work diary to know your home work due dates.

33..Know where everything of your stuff is by labling boxes, files, cases and putting back your things in the correct place.
