Exhibition 2 by Aditya

April 22, 2010

The progress in my presentation is going really well as we already started sticking the economy, nature, society and well-being things on but we need more pictures. The inside is going to much harder and it will take us lots of time so we also have to start managing our time well.

We have achieved sticking what we are going to talk about and the road scene. We will now start putting the other things like some trees, pollution and the other things we were supposed to put.

Ms. Dawn and Mr. Chris have helped us already. The ideas given by Ms. Dawn are really good but they are extremely hard to work on. So our group is thinking of considering only some of the ideas.

The things that have caused us difficulty are that first we weren’t able to decide that do we want to make it 2D or 3D. Then our group argued a lot on small things. Sometimes the whole group went to check a room or for card boards. Our group shouldn’t have done that but only 2 people should have gone.

My plans for the next few days is to finish the second box. If we will have more time then we will make something like a video, prezi or something.

My group needs help with the second box as we are going to start that soon. But I think my group can sort that out ourselves.

Group Organization Reflection- Amrita

January 19, 2010

How did your group work as a team to discuss and organise how you will allocate people to look at the different resources?

On two laptops my group went to different sites. Dianne looked at the websites. I looked at the pdf and Marvin wrote little notes by himself .

Did your group do this fairly so you would all finish at around the same time?

Before hunting for information. We talked how much time should the getting information done. We talked about who will do what.

Did your group organise how all members of the group would collect the information so that it could be shared with the group. What tools did you use?

We didn’t use really anything we used only a note pad and two computers. We knew which website we were going to.

When the entire group had collected their information, did you discuss how you were going to share the information?

Yes we did planed that to send the information to Dianne and she would put in word. We planed this before we even started to look for information.

How did you come up with your list?

Mr.Chirs gave us links to the websites in our web mail. He also gave use video. We also wrote things by ourself.

How did your instruction sheet help you to achieve your goal?

The sheet was really help full because it told where the videos are.

Do you think that your team worked in an organised manner? Why/Why not?

I think our team was an organised manner because we didn’t waste time. We were working hard to finish perfectly.

What did this activity help you to understand about organisation?

Helped me learn how to be organized in school.

Group Organization Reflection-Rayisht

How did your group work as a team to discuss and organise how you will allocate people to look at the different resources.

My group decided that half  the group would would look at half the links and the other half would look at the rest of the links.

Did your group do this fairly so you would all finish at around the same time.

I think the work was even but I had finished quicker because I went through it quickly and the other half went through it slower than me.

Did your group organise how all members of the group would collect the information so that it could be shared with the group. What tools did you use?(if any)

We organized who would do what very easily. My group had  used a sheet of paper to organise this.

When the entire group had collected their information, did you discuss how you were going to share the information?

Well my group didn’t really discuss how we were going to share it we were split into pairs. Then we did our work on Microsoft Word then at the end we just put it to one big Microsoft document.

How did you come up with your list?

When it was one big document one person in the group went through it and just said if it was good, bad or not important. So then we got rid of the bad ones and the one that weren’t important ones.

How did your instruction sheet help you to achieve your goal?

The instruction sheet helped our group by telling us websites to go to.

Do you think that your team worked in an organised manner? Why/Why not?

I think that my group worked in a organized manner because our sheets were in one place not all over the place and we sorted out who was going to do what.

What did this activity help you to understand about organisation

This activity helped me understand that we should be organized to achieve something.

How To Be Organized By: Erika, Mari, Sanjana and Rayisht

January 18, 2010

THESE ARE  33 TIPS TO HELP YOU GET ORGANIZED………

1.Make a folder for every member in your familly.

2.Make a planning journal.

3.Organize all of your materials, books, notebooks, etc.

4.Make a plan that includes budgeting the amount of time needed for different subjects, break times, and due dates for assignments.

5.Use an assignment notebook to record all homework and long-term projects.

6.Organize all your books, notes, handouts, flashcards, study-guides,
Choose to study during the time of day or night when you are most alert.

7.Take scheduled breaks during long homework assignments.

8.Make sure to check your assignments for errors before turning them in to your teacher.

9.Ask teachers, parents, and tutors for extra help and clarification.

10. Help your child get into the habit of using a “to-do” list. Checklists can be used to list assignments and household chores and to remind children to bring appropriate materials to class. It is recommended      that children keep a small pad or notebook dedicated to listing homework assignments. Crossing completed items off the list will help children feel a sense of accomplishment.

11.Children should study in the same place every night where supplies and materials are close at hand. This space doesn’t have to be a bedroom, but it should be a quiet place with few distractions. Young children may want their study space near a parent. This should be encouraged, as parents can then have the opportunity to monitor progress and encourage good study habits.

12.Children should know that a certain time every day is reserved for studying and doing homework. The best time is usually not right after school, as most children benefit from time to unwind first. Parents should include their child in making this decision. Even if your child does not have homework, the reserved time should be used to review the day’s lessons, read for pleasure or work on an upcoming project.

13.Help your child keep track of papers by organizing them in a binder or notebook. The purpose of a notebook is to help keep track of and remember the material for each day’s classes and to organize the material later to prepare for tests and quizzes. Use dividers to separate class notes, or color-code notebooks. Having separate “to do” and “done” folders helps organize worksheets, notices and items to be signed by parents as well as provide a central place to store completed assignments.

14.Children should be encouraged to go through and sort out book bags and notebooks on a weekly basis. Old tests and papers should be organized and kept in a separate file at home.

15.Before your child goes to bed he/she should pack schoolwork and books in a book bag. Clothes should be ironed and laid out with shoes, socks and accessories. This will cut down on morning confusion and allow your child to prepare for the day ahead

16.Help your child develop organizational skills by photocopying checklists and schedules and taping them to the refrigerator. Give children gentle reminders about filling in calendar dates and keeping papers and materials organized. Most important, set a good example.

17.Use large rubber bands to hold books and folders by subject area together.

18. Have a special folder or place for homework and for notes to parents. Carry this folder to all classes and home every day.

19. As you finish a class, put the books, papers, and homework assignments you need at home in your backpack. That way at the end of the day, you are already packed to go home.

20.Have a separate project folder to keep all your project information and papers together in one place.

21.Check each morning to be sure that you have pencils, pens, paper, and other class supplies to take to your classes.

22.Always keep extra pencils and pens in your locker or anything.

23.Keep extra lunch money in your locker in case you forget to bring your lunch or lunch money.

24.Keep all papers neatly in folders so they don’t get crinkled.

25.Anything you don’t need at school, take home immediately.

26 .Take home anything that you are not using; such as papers, jackets, or note cards.

27.Put your name on EVERYTHING with permanent marker or tags; including jackets, books, and eyeglass cases so you don’t loose it.

28. Leave a big piece of cloth to with lots of pockets to keep photos, pens, letter, and ipod, phone books etc on your wall.

29.Keep your destop calender.

30.For a book use book marks to keep track where we are.

31.Sepparate kinds of books on your book shelf. (It can be anything and anywhere)

32.Keep a home work diary to know your home work due dates.

33..Know where everything of your stuff is by labling boxes, files, cases and putting back your things in the correct place.

Niphan Organization Provocation

We don’t need to be organized?

I disagree with this statement because if you are not organized you waste time trying to collect information’s or things at the last moment and miss out on the focus of doing the job or making the right decisions.

EXAMPLE: If you have a flight to catch and you are not organized before hand by not preparing your luggage, your tickets, your passports and your transportation to the airport within a certain target of time, you can get into trouble by rushing because you can forget some important things and you might miss your flight.

You can’t learn to be organized – you’re born that way.

I also disagree with this statement because you can always learn to be organized as long as you try and put lots of effort. Once you learn to be organized your life will be easier and you will have less stress on your mind.

You will have more freetime and you will not miss any flight or anything when you’re organized.

Being Organised By Rayisht

January 14, 2010

My Basket used to be organised. I had kept all the sheets in the correct folders and all the folders were all neat. If the paper was big I would fold it properly and put it neatly in the correct the folder. The tools I used to help me was the basket and the folders. It was very successfull and it looked very tidy. But after about 4 days it started to get messy because I started to get more papers so then I didn’t want to keep puttting more paper in. Well so thats why my basket is messy.

Niphan- When I was Organised

January 14, 2010

When I had tidied my basket a few months ago I was organised. There was lots of papers out of place and lots of junk all around. Tidying my basket was a real challenge because I had lots of things misplaced. Aditya was the only person to help me tidy my basket. I threw lots of things away. After all that work on tidying my basket was a success and I could find things way easier now.

What do you think is the connection between ‘taking responsibility’ and ‘being organized’?

Being organized is part of taking responsibility. By being organized, we can save time to get our work done more efficiently. That is why we should start taking responsibility to get organized.

How might this change throughout a person’s lifetime?

Organization helps us reach our desired goals more efficiently. Taking responsibility is an important aspect. We are not only responsible for organizing and meeting our goals, but also have to take the responsibility to face the consequences of our actions. The older we get, the more responsibility we will have. This will change throughout our lifetime; the key is to be organized and ready to face it, as we gave in our very best.

When I was organized by Yoshikaze

January 14, 2010

When I got a computer few years ago. Last year I realized that there were lots about 50 things on my desktop. Some word documents, some games, some Norton stuff and Some were unknown. But I didnt care that I just putted things I most use like Google earth and Inter nets in the middle. Then I dont really know why but I started feeling to not like files with numbers and many unknown things on the desktops. So I putted Norton stuff in a folder called Norton and putted games in games and so on. I putted the unknown stuuf in a folder called Stuff. I also asked my dad can I delete things and sometimes I deleted a wrong important file and it took time for my dad to fix. After finishing fixing I felt good but now I just put things in stuff.

Amrita- Organisation Provocation

January 13, 2010

“You can’t learn to be organized – you’re born that way.”

I disagree with this Provocation because nobody is born organised. Every human will have to learn in their life how to be organised by yourself. It is a step by step process, which starts from organising simple things and then to more complicated things. It’s is always related to the learning process like in school. You can be a good organizer by using your past experiences. When your born we aren’t organised but we learn to be organised as life pass on.

“There is no link between being organized and being successful.”

I think there is a link to being successful if your organized. Successful means that you have achieved a goal or you got  good marks on your test. Successful person would be organized in his life and if your not organized you can never be successful. So I disagree with the above provocation. “There is no link between being organized and being successful.”

Sanjana- Organization Provocations

We don’t need to be organised…

I disagree with this statement because I have learnt that if one is not organised, they are going to be careless and irresponsibile. When we are organised, we are more aware of  what is happening around us. Giving us more control over what we do, and knowing where, and how things are meant to be done.

You can’t learn to be organised – you’re born that way

I also disagree with this provocation, because I feel that we can learn to be organised only if we are interested and put effort into the process. With a little bit of hard work and a little bit of  focus our mind can be trained to be organised. Being organised is a skill that everybody can learn and make use of it in our daily life.
