I think one thing that went well was the way we had explained to the people how we could improve the problem and whats going to happen if we don’t do something about it.

Some of our difficulties were some people in our group only wanted to do their own ideas and not really listen the others ideas and we didn’t work well. But we got a long after a while.

I learnt that I should do a bit more researching because i didn’t do much. But during the presentation time I did quite a bit of work.

Now i will use more of the BTS and walk to some close place the I can walk to.

I learnt that sometimes working in a group is worse because not everything goes your way all the time. But on the other side it’s better because not all the work is on you so it’s split up and it’s a lot easier for you.

Today saw Chanin’s groups project about illegal pet trade.

Star 1. Chanin had brought a iguana to the exhibition so it showed some endangered species and what they sell in the in the illegal trade.

Star 2. Chanin’s group had got a game to teach people about the illegal pet trade of endangered animals.

Wish. I think the iguana was a bad idea showing it all the time because I think some people only came to see the iguana. I think they should have covered up the iguana and when people finished listening they could see it like what we did with our group. We had a traffic game to play but they could only play when the finished listening to us.

The sencond one is Ryoga’s project and it’s about endangered marine life

Star 1 Ryoga’s information was very intresting

Star 2 When i heard Ryoga presentate he was very confident and I could tell he new what he was going
to say

Whish I think he should got more accurate information because he said 190 sharks die a minute so around about 3 sharks die a sencond. Well I’m not sure thats realy correct but it could be it don’t really know.

The progress in my presentation is going really well as we already started sticking the economy, nature, society and well-being things on but we need more pictures. The inside is going to much harder and it will take us lots of time so we also have to start managing our time well.

We have achieved sticking what we are going to talk about and the road scene. We will now start putting the other things like some trees, pollution and the other things we were supposed to put.

Ms. Dawn and Mr. Chris have helped us already. The ideas given by Ms. Dawn are really good but they are extremely hard to work on. So our group is thinking of considering only some of the ideas.

The things that have caused us difficulty are that first we weren’t able to decide that do we want to make it 2D or 3D. Then our group argued a lot on small things. Sometimes the whole group went to check a room or for card boards. Our group shouldn’t have done that but only 2 people should have gone.

My plans for the next few days is to finish the second box. If we will have more time then we will make something like a video, prezi or something.

My group needs help with the second box as we are going to start that soon. But I think my group can sort that out ourselves.

  • The progress you have made in developing your presentation

My group and I have nearly finished our presentation. For our presentation, we were thinking of making a sculpture. On these few days we had stack up 4 A4 boxes together and cover them with white A3 and A4 paper. Then we had wrapped the 4 boxes up again with green paper. We had also made some collages of people, cities, cars, pollution, animals, farmland and houses. After we made the collages, we printed them out and stick them on the boxes.

  • What you have achieved so far

My group and I had achieved in making the sculpture, wrapping the sculpture up, cutting the animals and sticking the animals on the sculpture. We had also achieved in writing down the information about 10 endangered animals.

  • Who was helped you and how (if anyone)

Ms. Kate was teaching us and also helping us how to wrap up the boxes. Mr. Chris was giving ideas about how we could make the presentation look like. Ms. Dawn was giving us the idea of using the A4 box to build the sculpture.

  • Things that have caused you difficulty (if any)

We had difficulties in wrapping the boxes because first we don’t know how to wrap them until Ms.Kate came to help us. We also had difficulties in fitting the pictures on the boxes because we need to see how much paper we have to print out for each one and also sometimes we need to cut the pictures in half because it doesn’t fit the box.

  • What your plans are for the next few days – show a timeline of how you expect to get the job done

Friday- Practice what we are going to say when we present.

Monday- See where we should stand and how we should put the sculpture.

Tuesday- Practice what we should say.

Wednesday- Practice what we should say.

Thursday- Try practicing to Mr. Chris or other groups and gets their feedback. We also need to put up the animals information on to the string and connect the string to the boxes.

Friday- Done and is ready for presenting on Monday.

  • Any problems or issues you need help with.

I don’t think my group and I have any problems or issues because I think we could work well together.

The progress of our presentation is going well because we have started to stick information and pictures on the box and put some cars to make it look like a traffic jam inside of the box. Tomorrow I think we should finish the first box and move on the the second one.

So far we have achieved quite a bit because we nearly have finished the first diorama.

Well, Mr Chris and Ms Dawn have helped us in our presentation by giving us ideas on how we could improve our diorama. Ms Dawn had given us lots of information about the water boat and how they reduce traffic. Ms Dawn also gave us her opinion about water boats and how it was efficient in transporting large number of people.

Some problems we had was that we didn’t have enough time to cut the box and display the traffic so we were all in a rush today and sometimes we all didn’t really concentrate much so we weren’t very productive.

My plans for the next few days is to finish off the first diorama and start the second one by Monday. Quicker would be better by concentrating more on time management.

The 5 important things that I learn’t through the inquiry is.

1 Many people bribe the police when they get caught.

2 Is most accidents occur because some people don’t listen to the road rules.

3 That most accidents occur in poorer countries because the rules aren’t very good.

4 Some wealthy people don’t use public transport because it douesn’t match their staus.

5 Thailand is planing to extend the BTS.

Well the most important thing is that I want people to start using
public transport more so theres less traffic and less pollution.

My presentation will be 2 diorama about present and future.

The resources I will need for the diorama is

Toy cars
Toy people
Pictures for the dioramas
Trees
Trash
BTS tracks
BTS
paper
water boats
boxes
carboard

Mr Chris and some compass guides helped us.

My plan is to finished the diorama.

Today I learnt that the water boats are a good and quick transport but people don’t use it as it does not match their status and it is really dangerous. I also learnt that even though tuk-tuk is a good transport many people don’t use it as it more expensive than taxis. Only the tourists use the tuk-tuk. I learnt that the traffic problem in Bangkok is also because of shortage of roads. Only 8% of Bangkok is covered with roads compared to 20% in Tokyo.

I also learnt that more people are buying sport-utility cars which require more fuel and cause more pollution. I learnt that the locals who walk wear masks to protect themselves from the pollution. But other people say that the mask is not protective as the harmful gases can go through the mask.

Today I finished my A3 paper’s economy part. I already finished the others. I am researching at home too.

My sources were internet. I think I should use different resources such as books.

My plans for the next few days is to find more information, do 2-3 more interviews and by then I think it will be presenting time so we will start getting ready.

Today i learned that the water boat is a good way to travel to places because it’s very fast. The reason that some people don’t use the boat is that it is dirty and the seats are uncomfortable.
I learned that people should use buses instead of cars because 20 people can fit in one bus so it will take away 20 cars. If more people use it then traffic won’t be a big issue anymore.

Well today i didn’t really achieve much today because I was working on my A3 sheet of paper and that took me a while and I’m still not done with it yet.

My sources was the internet. My primary source is taking to people who take the boat, walk and bike. We haven’t really gone to ask those people yet but we have planed to.

My plan for the next few days are to go ask the people that take the boat, walk and bike some questions about how bad is the traffic and stuff like that.

Today my question is What has the government done to decrease traffic in Bankok.

Exhibition 4

April 4, 2010

What I learned?

I learnt that traffic can be stopped using these alternatives

1)BTS
2)Metro
3)Water Boats
4)Walking
5)Bus

I also learnt that the average citizen of Bangkok spends 6 hours a day in traffic. I also learnt that the traffic problem in Bangkok is because of people having more cars than they need and shortage of roads. There also have to be more lines for the metro. I also learnt that people don’t use public transport as they say it doesn’t match their status. I learnt that we have to work harder as time is running out.

What I achieved today?

Today I found tons of information about my issue. I still need lots more so I can fill the compass paper. We are searching deeper into our issue.

My sources

1) Internet
2) Interviews

My plans for the next few days are to fill the compass sheet and to find lots more information. Once we find enough information we will have to think of how to display it. I have got many ideas about how to display my information.

Today in exhibition time, I did quite alot of noodle bib and researching on the computer. I found the search engine Think Quest quite good. I found this good website from Think Quest. I don’t remember the name of the website but it had informatin about the cause of Poverty and the cycle of Poverty.

I learnt that Lack of Education is one of the reason. This is because when the family is working and they need help because their money income is less. They want to send them to school, but they need some one to help them so they keep their children at home and let them work. The children who didn’t  get education, they will have difficulty to find their job. So they are forced to get a job with less income of money. I learnt that lack of education also includes the teachers. When there are no good teachers, children won’t get educated properly. I also learnt that the goverments are part of the cause of Poverty. (That when the goverment isn’t strong, there will be more people living in Poverty.) At the bottom of the page of the useful website I used, there was one solution for Poverty. It said that training teachers will be a solution to the education part of poverty and there will be more kids educated well.

Some Questions I have now are:

  1. I now know that people live in poverty because they don’t get education but why did they become poor when money was made?
  2. Is it that the parents want to send their kids to the school but they don’t have the money or is it that they need help so they don’t send their kids to school?
  3. It said that there is a cycle of poverty but what is a cycle of poverty?
  4. Why does the lack of goverment affect the people living in Poverty?
  5. Why is it always woman and girls that always work when they only can send a few kids to school or when they need help?

The Sources I used and will use:

  • Survey monkey
  • Interviews
  • Guest speakers:
  • a)Mr. Adrian Watts
  • b)Ms. Kate
  • c)My mom
  • Think Quest
  • Ask kids.com
  • Brain Pop videos
  • The great website I found today
  • Books about Poverty and Child Educatin from the library

My plans for the next few days is that tomorrow, I will go to the klongtoei slum and interview some people living in the slum if I can. I will also invite my mom who works at UNESCO to come next week to talk to us about how Poverty affects the Child Education and how Child Education affects the issue Poverty.
