  • The progress you have made in developing your presentation

My group and I have nearly finished our presentation. For our presentation, we were thinking of making a sculpture. On these few days we had stack up 4 A4 boxes together and cover them with white A3 and A4 paper. Then we had wrapped the 4 boxes up again with green paper. We had also made some collages of people, cities, cars, pollution, animals, farmland and houses. After we made the collages, we printed them out and stick them on the boxes.

  • What you have achieved so far

My group and I had achieved in making the sculpture, wrapping the sculpture up, cutting the animals and sticking the animals on the sculpture. We had also achieved in writing down the information about 10 endangered animals.

  • Who was helped you and how (if anyone)

Ms. Kate was teaching us and also helping us how to wrap up the boxes. Mr. Chris was giving ideas about how we could make the presentation look like. Ms. Dawn was giving us the idea of using the A4 box to build the sculpture.

  • Things that have caused you difficulty (if any)

We had difficulties in wrapping the boxes because first we don’t know how to wrap them until Ms.Kate came to help us. We also had difficulties in fitting the pictures on the boxes because we need to see how much paper we have to print out for each one and also sometimes we need to cut the pictures in half because it doesn’t fit the box.

  • What your plans are for the next few days – show a timeline of how you expect to get the job done

Friday- Practice what we are going to say when we present.

Monday- See where we should stand and how we should put the sculpture.

Tuesday- Practice what we should say.

Wednesday- Practice what we should say.

Thursday- Try practicing to Mr. Chris or other groups and gets their feedback. We also need to put up the animals information on to the string and connect the string to the boxes.

Friday- Done and is ready for presenting on Monday.

I don’t think my group and I have any problems or issues because I think we could work well together.

  • The most important 5 things you have found out through your inquiry.
  1. I found out that people population is growing and then we are taking the animals space, so soon the animals could all be gone because they have not got enough space.
  2. People are eating the animals or sometimes people take the animal’s body part and sell it and they could get a lot of money for selling them.
  3. I also found out that if there is only one animal gone from the food chain the others would also get affected too.
  4. I found out that people are using so much resources and it’s affecting the animals.
  5. I found out that animals that are extremely endangered are kept in zoos for protection but the zoos don’t have the resources needed to save all of them.
  • The most important thing you would like people who visit your Exhibition presentation, to come away understanding.

I want people to know that we should help the animals because we are causing trouble for the world and also ourselves too. I also want people to know that if we don’t stop this problem it’s also like we are killing ourselves because without animals we are going to die.

  • What is your presentation going to be – what it will be/look like/be presented

We are going to make 3 sculpture of how people are over populating and pushing the animals down. Between the 3 sculptures we were thinking of hanging a string and hang the animals on it and behind the animals are some information.

I think Ms. Caroline because we need mostly art materials and Ms. Caroline has many art materials. Another reason why I think she could help me with the presentation is because she could give us some advice about how to make the 3D box and also some other advices.

My group and I planned to start bringing in things and we’re starting to make our presentation.

  • What did I achieve today?

Today my group and I achieved in writing all the questions down and separating it into the 4 sections. We also pick out the 5 main questions and wrote it into the ‘we will inquire sheet’. We also wrote our 5 main questions into the primary resources and the secondary resources sheet. Today my group and I also had a guest speaker about endangered species, and I wrote down some notes.  My group also achieved in going down to the library and finding books about endangered animals to gather information together. We got many books and we are now trying to write our notes down to answer our 5 main questions.

  • What are some new things I learned today?

Today I learned many new things from the guest speaker, Mrs. Sandra. I learned that trading animals cost really expensive and also China is the country that kills the most animals. China kills the most animals because they think that it will make their body get healthier and also some animals are a type of medicine. I learned some new animals that are endangered too. I also learned that when people are travelling to take the animals to another country to sell them, they use many ways to hide the animals but mostly they get caught.

How did I find them?

For interview, Georgia is in my group and she said that her mum also knows about endangered species so then Mr. Chris invited her here. For books and internet teachers told us it was a good way to find information.

In what ways did they change what I was thinking or what I knew about the topic?

It change my thinking by first I thought that trading animals is really cheap but then I just knew that trading animals are really expensive.

My question is, how could we educate people about endangered species?

For the next few days I think that my group would gather a lot of information and then we might answer some questions.

What did I achieve today?

Today my group and I achieved in making a PowerPoint to present on Tuesday. It was not really hard because I just copy the key words about what the teachers thought about endangered animals and write it down on my PowerPoint. My friends and I also wrote down what we thought. We also wrote a script about what we should say when we are presenting.

What are some new things I learned today?

Today I learned that frogs are endangered animals. I also learned some new animals I never heard of before like, Javan Rhino. I also learned more ways to help endangered animals by my survey I sent to the teachers and my friends.

How did I find them?

In class we were learning how to find a good quality images, and some teachers had told us some websites that we could find good quality images. To interview teachers, Mr. Chris had given us the compass teachers names and emails so we could choose who we want to email it to.

In what ways did they change what I was thinking or what I knew about the topic?

It had changed my thinking by, I get to know what other people are thinking and sometimes their thinking could change what I was thinking.

What are some new questions I have now about what you learned today? (there is always  something)

My question is why does some people want rare wild animals instead of raring a home animal?

What is my plan for the next few days?

My plan is to find out more information by splitting up my group so one person goes to the library and one person finds information in the internet and one person could interview someone. Then I think we could come and talk together as a group about how we could present our information.

Endangered animals

I achieved writing down questions and emailing the questions to my friends and the teachers.

Today I didn’t really learn anything because we were just thinking of questions for interviewing.

I didn’t have any sources today because we didn’t learn anything and we didn’t really used anything.

My question is why don’t people stop killing endangered animals and find a better job?

My plan for the next few days is to collect the answer I emailed to my friends and my teachers. Then we would think of a  way to present my presentation about the questions I had ask.

Endangered Animals –

Today my group achieved in more ideas from people in other classes and also listening to their perspectives. I find it really interesting.

Today I learned many new interesting things. I learned that some people rare’s animals which I don’t think its a good thing. I don’t think its a good thing because that is another way to make animals get endangered. To rare the animal, you must go and kill their mum. So it means that it make animals get endangered.

My sources was other people in year 6 sharing their ideas and I record it down on the paper Mr. Chris gave me. Some information was already the information that I already knew but some information was the information I don’t know.

My question is, Why do some people rare wild animals instead of raring home animals?

My plan for the next few days is to find more information by going to the library, interviewing people or search in the internet. Then maybe brainstorm interesting ways to present my information.

Endangered Animals :

Today my group achieved in getting the main idea and writing down what we know or we don’t know about. Sometimes I can’t think of any ideas and sometimes many ideas come into my head and when am writing it down I can’t remember what the idea was.

Today,  I  learned that we could use animals body parts to make medicine. I also learned that there is 126million people who eat tuna. I learned that if all animals die we could also die too because the Eco-system is all screwed up.

We found the information by a guest speaker. It was Irvin’s dad. I learned a lot from his speech, especially when he teaches us 10 ways to help the endangered animals.

I really want to know about why people are killing these animals ? I want to know why because these animals doesn’t effect us but we are effecting them.

For the next few weeks my group is going to take notes and put it together and we will think of a way to present our information.
