Exhibition 2 by Aditya

April 22, 2010

The progress in my presentation is going really well as we already started sticking the economy, nature, society and well-being things on but we need more pictures. The inside is going to much harder and it will take us lots of time so we also have to start managing our time well.

We have achieved sticking what we are going to talk about and the road scene. We will now start putting the other things like some trees, pollution and the other things we were supposed to put.

Ms. Dawn and Mr. Chris have helped us already. The ideas given by Ms. Dawn are really good but they are extremely hard to work on. So our group is thinking of considering only some of the ideas.

The things that have caused us difficulty are that first we weren’t able to decide that do we want to make it 2D or 3D. Then our group argued a lot on small things. Sometimes the whole group went to check a room or for card boards. Our group shouldn’t have done that but only 2 people should have gone.

My plans for the next few days is to finish the second box. If we will have more time then we will make something like a video, prezi or something.

My group needs help with the second box as we are going to start that soon. But I think my group can sort that out ourselves.

What did I achieve today?

Today my group and I achieved in making a PowerPoint to present on Tuesday. It was not really hard because I just copy the key words about what the teachers thought about endangered animals and write it down on my PowerPoint. My friends and I also wrote down what we thought. We also wrote a script about what we should say when we are presenting.

What are some new things I learned today?

Today I learned that frogs are endangered animals. I also learned some new animals I never heard of before like, Javan Rhino. I also learned more ways to help endangered animals by my survey I sent to the teachers and my friends.

List several sources? Comment by each:

  • Interviewing teachers
  • Nist e-mail
  • Google
  • Flickr
  • Listening to other people ideas.

How did I find them?

In class we were learning how to find a good quality images, and some teachers had told us some websites that we could find good quality images. To interview teachers, Mr. Chris had given us the compass teachers names and emails so we could choose who we want to email it to.

In what ways did they change what I was thinking or what I knew about the topic?

It had changed my thinking by, I get to know what other people are thinking and sometimes their thinking could change what I was thinking.

What are some new questions I have now about what you learned today? (there is always  something)

My question is why does some people want rare wild animals instead of raring a home animal?

What is my plan for the next few days?

My plan is to find out more information by splitting up my group so one person goes to the library and one person finds information in the internet and one person could interview someone. Then I think we could come and talk together as a group about how we could present our information.

Today, my group and I achieved to think of two more inquiry lines for our topic. We got help from Mr. Chris. Our inquiry lines were:

1. An inquiry into the cause of Poverty

2. An inquiry into how we  as an community can help people living in Poverty.

My group and I also got to finish our mini Presentation about what other people think, feel, hope and fear about our topic. We found out that most of the people feel bad, sad, terrible about this issue ”Poverty, Education and acess to Basic Needs.” We all agreed with that but I want to know why they feel bad, sad and terrible about this issue. We also found out what people think we as a community could help people in Poverty. Most of the people talked about donating money, giving them a chance to have education/free education, help the adults get jobs even they didn’t get education, but with their abillities.

Today, I also learnt alot from the two guest speakers, Mr. Doug and Mr. Dorn. I learnt about Mr. Doug’s Culture and how his Maori people live together as a big community. I learnt from Mr. Dorn about how the nature part of the compass is very important. I really agreed with him because if you destroy nature, the whole food chain will collapse. First, the herbivores will be extinct. Next, the omnivore or the carnivore that eats those herbivores will be extinct. And then finally, us human will be extinct too because of no food and resources. I really agree that if we damage the nature then its like damaging our selves.

I have some questions from what I’ve learnt today. Firstly, I want to ask Mr. Dorn that how his life changed when he first came to live in the cities from where he used to run, hike, bike and go out doors so often. Secondly, I want to ask Mr. Doug that is the Maori people sharing and caring who isn’t competitive about their resources. Finally, I want to ask all the people who answered my survey, WHY they think, fell, hope, wish about it. WHY they think they should do this this and that to help the people in Poverty.

Some sources I will and used:

  1.  Survey monkey
  2. Guest speakers
  3. My Parents
  4. Teachers
  5. Books
  6. Ask
  7. Think
  8. Some Books
