Answers to our provocations….

May 16, 2010

If possible, do this activity between 9.20 and 10.30.

As a comment, type in to this blog posting your answers to the provocations that you wrote on Friday. The provocations are:

1.Girls are much more mature than boys….

 2. Boys only need to know about boys bodies and girls only need to know about girl’s bodies….

 3. Families are not that important, who needs them…..?

Read at least 5 other peoples comments and see if we can get some respectful discussions around the provocations. It will be fun to see what ideas people have and how others react to them. Keep commenting until you have made about 10 comments.

What did you feel went really well for you during your Exhibition?

My group and I had many interesting ideas, so when we put our ideas together it came out really well. Also when we were presenting, my group and I was quite confident than usual so then our presentation came out quite well.

What difficulties did you have and how did you deal with them?

The difficulties I had to deal with sometimes were that my group was not helping me and they were playing with their things so I had to work by my selves. I deal with them by I just told them that can you please help me , but sometimes they just don’t and sometimes they just said sorry and then they would help.

What have you learned about yourself?

I had learned that I could really do what I planned to do because before exhibition I thought that exhibition was really hard and I wouldn’t finish my presentation on time.

What ‘big ideas did you take away from the Exhibition?

The big idea I took from exhibition was that there is more interesting ways to present than just presenting with a power point or a poster. Another idea I took from exhibition was that we should choose the person we work well with and not choose a person because they’re your best friend. I thought this idea was the big one because if you choose the person who you don’t work well with, then maybe you would be playing around all the time and you would not finish your work.

How will you continue to move forward with your learning – what will you do to live with the future in mind?

I would try not to forget what I learned on exhibition and I would try to help endangered animals as much as I can. To move forward with what I’m learning I would try to convince people about my ideas so that people would start helping.

What have you learned about group work?

I had learned that sometimes you might find the right person to work with and also sometimes you might not find the right person to work with. But if you didn’t find the right person to work with, you should get along with that and put your best effort on your work.

What did you feel went really well for you during your Exhibition?

I think that it went really well while my group preformed. We preformed in the theater and the reason I think it went really well is because we would always have an audience there. If we have had preformed somewhere else, I don’t think my group would of had much audience. (In the secound day of exhibition we had a lot of classes who came to the theater.)

What difficulties did you have and how did you deal with them?

The difficulties my group has had while exhibition is, that our group had quite a lot of arguements…:P We usually had arguments with what we should do (or who should go up stairs and get the camera when we forgot to bring it to shoot or movie.) We dealed with the argument by letting others vote for what they want and being open-minded. (It was a little tricky.)

What have you learned about yourself?

Whiel exhibition I have learnt that I usually wanted to use my idea for everything so then I tried to be open-minded and listen to some other people’s idea’s and used them.

What ‘big ideas did you take away from the Exhibition?

The big idea’s I took from exhibition is that they are other ways to present your thinking then just a power point or a poster. I should always be open-minded and communicative in a group. (I think I am good at the communication part.)

How will you continue to move forward with your learning – what will you do to live with the future in mind?

I will contine to move on forward by getting more and more knowledgable and don’t forget what I have learnt in exhibition. To remember my weeknesses more then my strength. Since I have been learning about cyber bullying I should remember to be caring to other online or not.

What have you learned about group work?

People always have different ways of thinking and it could bea great idea so we should be open-minded. Lots of my group member had lots of diffrent great idea’s but we can never do all. So in a group work, you always have to choose one best idea. I don’t think you should be good at everything of the learner profile to be a really good group member but you should be good at some of them.

What did you feel went really well for you during your Exhibition?

My group and I had very good presenting skills so we presented very well and profesionaly and everybody would understand us.

What difficulties did you have and how did you deal with them?

we had difficaulty with mesauring about how it was 200 years ago and then how it was 100 years ago we asked some teachers at lunch and they said almost the same thing.

What have you learned about yourself?

I have learned that I can work with anyone and get the job done together.

What ‘big ideas did you take away from the Exhibition?

we had planed that we would have things sticking out from the sculpture but the we said no because it was to much work.

How will you continue to move forward with your learning – what will you do to live with the future in mind?

I would try my best to make the future as good as I can and I would convince someone to help me make the future better.

If you worked in a group: What have you learned about group work?

I learned that it dosent matter if it is a girl or boy you are working with what only matters is us getting the job done together.

What did you feel went really well for you during your Exhibition?

What difficulties did you have and how did you deal with them?

What have you learned about yourself?

In Exhibition, I have learnt that I can speak loud and do well in my exhibition if I know alot. Also, I learned that I work best on my own except it takes some time and I cannot do alot and great big stuff.

What ‘big ideas did you take away from the Exhibition?

From the Exhibition, the Big Ideas that I took away from the Exhibition is that Poverty doesn’t just mean no money but alot of meanings like starvation or no roof or even just living with lots of fear and sadness and lonelyness.

How will you continue to move forward with your learning – what will you do to live with the future in mind?

I will keep on learning more about Poverty from my mom and some day, I will go and work in organizations like United Nations where my mom works and help people live in Poverty and people who are uneducated.

If you worked on your own: What challenges did you face working as an individual and how did you overcome these?

I had faced challenges like not being able to do big performance like what I might have done with a group and that I had to make all the choices by my own thoughts without no discussion or any thing. But, I felt it was better that I was on my own because I did not need to argue of anything how it is going to be.

The thing that went really well for my group was that we knew what we were talking about and the we had got lots of information. We had also made a good diorama which explained our thinking.

The difficulties we had were that the group members weren’t listening to each other so it made us slow and later we were behind the rest. We dealt it by staying after school for a day.

I have learned that I don’t really cooperate well with a group and that i need to listen to what other people are saying as well.

The big ideas I took from exhibition was that we should use public transport and we should encourage other people to use public transport.

I will continue to move forward with my learning by using public transport like BTS nad stop using the car. But if newer technology comes out, I will probably use it.

I have learned that working in a group is not that easy. It is actually hard as people don’t listen to you.

What did you feel went really well for you during your Exhibition?

It felt that our movie went really well because everyone told us that it was very good. I also felt that our message got around well. I also think that our movie was very well at getting our message past.

What difficulties did you have and how did you deal with them?

We sometimes had fights in the group but the way we solved it was agree on something that we all like. Also in our movie it cut some bits of so we know next time to wait a bit after we filmed a scene we should wait like 2 or 3 minutes.

What have you learned about yourself?

I learned that I am a bit bossy and should also let people have their say even if I am really wanting to say something. I also learned that I sometimes waste time because I think that I have a lot of days to finnish my work in. I learned that I can take risk like making a video with me acting in it. There is also that I am not so scared of big projects like.

What ‘big ideas did you take away from the Exhibition?

The big idea is that you should stop cyber bullying because it affects people lives not just on person and it really affects the bully life when they are found bullying. If you bully someone you may cause them illness, death, hurt and sorrow.

How will you continue to move forward with your learning – what will you do to live with the future in mind?

I will make sure that I don’t hurt anyones feelings on chat or in person so they don’t feel safe around me. I will also make sure that people don’t always think that people are trying to be mean to them because they might be joking.

MY QUSTIONS ANSWER

What have you learned about group work?

I have learned that a group means teamwork an teamwork means you share the work around. Also choose a group that you can work with not one that you can’t work with. When in a group you shouldn’t say I did all the work because you all work as a team.

What did you feel went really well for you during your Exhibition?

Our exhibition went really smooth because it was a movie so not much can go wrong during the presentation.

What difficulties did you have and how did you deal with them?

While we were filming people kept walking in or knocking on the door so we had to stop recording and tell them to go away and we had to restart the entire thing. We dealt with the problem by writing a note on the door so people would read it and not interrupt while we were recording but then people started looking in and it was very annoying.

What have you learned about yourself?

I have learnt that I need to be more patient while I am making a video or doing anything because if you have patience you can think more.

What ‘big ideas did you take away from the Exhibition?

I learnt that you should appreciate all the things you have in life and not ask for more than you need because some people like people in poverty can’t get what they need to survive while we have things we really want.

How will you continue to move forward with your learning – what will you do to live with the future in mind?

I will think before I buy things because I might not even need it. I save money and I won’t make silly purchases that won’t benefit me later on because I didn’t need it.

What have you learned about group work?

I have learnt that group work makes everything a lot easier because the work is spread out and you can concentrate on one thing so you don’t have to worry about to many things. I have also learnt that you can argue a lot and its hard to work.

What did you feel went really well for you during your Exhibition?

Well I think that when I was on the stage I felt really confident and I didn’t stutter or pause. A lot of people clapped at the end so that really made me think oh well the audience liked it.

What difficulties did you have and how did you deal with them?

I had some difficulties working by myself because I had to present by myself and find the information by myself but the way that I deal with them was that I tried my best so it can come out a good and interesting presentation.

What have you learned about yourself?

Going throughout exhibition I did learned a lot about myself and that is that I could work on my own quite as well as working in a group actually even better. I also learned that if I worked really hard on days that I had time I would have to do as much work over the next weeks of exhibition.

What ‘big ideas did you take away from the Exhibition?

Well the big Idea that I got back was that law and order really means a lot to the community safety the community fairness and all sorts and if you don’t follow the laws it doesn’t only affect other people’s lives but also yours.

How will you continue to move forward with your learning – what will you do to live with the future in mind?

I will follow all the laws and I will try my best to help other people from breaking the laws to at the same time as helping myself. I would also remind my family about how important it is to follow the law even if it’s a tinny one like crossing the red light.

What challenges did you face working as an individual and how did you overcome these?

The challenges that I had to face were trying to find all the information by myself and going on interview with other people without any groups members surrounding me. I had to work harder to complete the exhibition myself. I overcome these difficulties by trying my best and thinking about reaching the exhibition goal.
