Exhibition 1

April 5, 2010

Today I learnt that water boats are a good transportation to use to get to far places as it is very fast and saves the environment. I learnt that the reason they don’t use water boats is that it is very dirty.

I also learnt that people should use buses instead of cars as many people can go in one bus and only few people can go in a car. It saves pollution as there are few amounts of buses on the road and not a lot of cars giving eight or more times of the pollution of buses.

I also learnt that the average citizen of Bangkok spends 6 hours a day in traffic.

Today I achieved a lot as I have nearly finished the A3 compass paper. Today we really searched our topic in depth and really got on with the job.

My Sources today were the internet as it gave me information on my issue, Traffic Problems in Bangkok.

I also used a primary source as we had to interview people to find out what are people opinions about traffic in Bangkok.

My plans for the next few days are to fill the compass sheet and to find lots more information. Once we have all the information and once we interviewed the montri people we can start thinking about how to present our work.

Chitralada Palace- Dianne

March 9, 2010

Today the whole year6 went to Chitralada Palace. We broke into groups and went to see the king’s projects. I saw the Dairy farm, the coal factory, the rice factory and many more. The milk there was cheap and fresh, this helped Thailand by the king could get profit then he could help poor people or help peopled that needed help. All the projects that I’ve looked  helps me to learn more about what the king have build and how the king made Thailand a better place. I also thought that the king is really creative and he uses his best effort to build these projects.

Access to equal opportunities

I chose this phrase because the things they are selling at Chitralada palace is really cheap, and if we are poor we could afford it. Also when its cheap people could buy more so the king gains profit and he could help people. Another reason why I chose this phrase is because the king builds projects and some projects helped Thailand to be a better place so people could have equal opportunities and it also doesn’t matter if they are poor or rich they also could have equal opportunities.

Three questions :

1. Who inspired you to build these projects?

2.Do you have anymore plans for building anymore projects?

3.Which project is the most challenging one you have worked on ?

Tanya’s POG

February 2, 2010

My goal was to clean up my things after i have played with them or used them and not depend on my maid to keep them. Everyday after i play with my things i always keep them back from where i got it from. If i take out my homework folder then when i am done with it i always keep whatever i took out from it and  keep the folder back into my school bag.  Sometimes when i get a lot of things out it kind of hard to remember where i got it from but know a days i always remember where i take my things out from and when i am done with it then i keep it back!  I still need to remember where i get my things from because sometimes i forget and put my things back in the wrong place and the next time i want to play with them i wont be able to find it. I think at the end of this unit my things and toys will always be in the right place and that will help me sustain my goal!

My Gradual Release of Responsibility goal was to wake up by myself.
Every morning, my dad was waking me up because I always forgot to put on my alarm.
To achieve my goal, I have been put a reminder on my bed side table to put on my alarm and I have said to my dad that I have this Gradual Release of Responsibility goal and that I have to wake up by myself from now on.
Some times, the alarm comes into my dream and be something else’s sound like some one’s stopwatch on their watch. I am still practicing it, but this week, my dad never woke me up yet.
I some times could not wake up at 5:50 AM because I sleep around 9 PM so I think maybe I should actually sleep around 8 PM so I have enough sleep during the night.
I still want to get better at waking up by myself so I would try to wake up every morning perfectly at 5:50 AM so I could get to the school MONTRI bus on time.

Holes By: Tanya

February 1, 2010

Holes is a fantastic book. It showed me that  people can be very good or very terrible. I felt really sorry for all these boys stuck in the camp with very mean adults that treated them without any kindness or respect, even though they did something wrong. It also tought me about courage and being there for my friends. Everytime Mr. Chris stopped reading, i couldn’t come out of the book or wait to know what would happen next!

Stanley Yelnats is really a great character and also my favorite.  At the start he was a fat kid who got bullied, but he became confident and much braver by the end. He was a really good friend to Zero, stood up for him, and even saved his life. He was also a little funny because he kept blaming his ” no good pig stealing great-great grandfather” for all his problems. He is a very likeable character.

My favorite part in the book is when Stanley and Zero are saved from the hole. First, the lizards did not bite them even though they normally do. This was because of the onions they ate. Second, the mean Warden could not take the bag from them because Zero shows them that Stanley’s name is written on it. Then, all the mean people at the camp get in trouble. It served them right!

I would recommend this book to everyone because it is a really great book. It takes you on a exciting, sad, angry and even happy journey. I give this book 10/10. It deserves it!

Earthquake in Hiati by Niphan

January 25, 2010

There was an earthquake in Haiti which killed many people. Buildings were destroyed and many children were left by there parents. Lots of children are being adopted as most of them don’t have a home. Lots of people are in the hospital as some were injured. Haiti is a very poor country as they do not have money to fix most of the damaged buildings.

My opinion on this earthquake is that it was very bad for the Haiti people as they lost their homes and kids lost there family. I really think the governments close to Haiti should give this country some money to help them.

Group Organization Reflection- Amrita

January 19, 2010

How did your group work as a team to discuss and organise how you will allocate people to look at the different resources?

On two laptops my group went to different sites. Dianne looked at the websites. I looked at the pdf and Marvin wrote little notes by himself .

Did your group do this fairly so you would all finish at around the same time?

Before hunting for information. We talked how much time should the getting information done. We talked about who will do what.

Did your group organise how all members of the group would collect the information so that it could be shared with the group. What tools did you use?

We didn’t use really anything we used only a note pad and two computers. We knew which website we were going to.

When the entire group had collected their information, did you discuss how you were going to share the information?

Yes we did planed that to send the information to Dianne and she would put in word. We planed this before we even started to look for information.

How did you come up with your list?

Mr.Chirs gave us links to the websites in our web mail. He also gave use video. We also wrote things by ourself.

How did your instruction sheet help you to achieve your goal?

The sheet was really help full because it told where the videos are.

Do you think that your team worked in an organised manner? Why/Why not?

I think our team was an organised manner because we didn’t waste time. We were working hard to finish perfectly.

What did this activity help you to understand about organisation?

Helped me learn how to be organized in school.

Group Organization Reflection by Tanya

January 18, 2010

How did your group work as a team to discuss and organise how you will allocate people to look at the different resources?

We had a group discussion and split the tasks. We made Alex watched the three videos and take notes because he understands and writes well. Aries went over the links and found useful information, which she printed out. Emma and I read the material and took down the key points.

Did your group do this fairly so you would all finish at around the same time?

Not really ,because we divided the work in a way that when one person finished, the others started their tasks. We should have divided the work more equally and fairly.

Did your group organise how all members of the group would collect the information so that it could be shared with the group. What tools did you use?(if any)

Two team members found the information online, and the other two read it and wrote down key points. Then, we had a group discussion and shared all the information including our own ideas. We used the internet, Microsoft Word, notepads and pencils as tools.

When the entire group had collected their information, did you discuss how you were going to share the information?

We had a group discusstion and everyone gave their ideas.  We shared most of the information by taking turns to read them out loud. Everyone gave their opinion on each point as we went through our research.

How did you come up with your list?

We discussed our points and picked the ones that most team members agreed on. Then we typed up our list on Microsoft Word. Then we edited it and when through it again and made a few improvements together to come up with our final list.

How did your instruction sheet help you to achieve your goal?

The instruction sheet gave us all the links we needed for our research and all the steps needed to achieve our goal.

Do you think that your team worked in an organised manner? Why/Why not?

We were an organized team because we organised our materials well. We should have divided our tasks more fairly. However, we used our time and materials well.

What did this activity help you to understand about organisation?

Being organized helps us to finish our work correctly and on time. We can work more effciently and there is less confustion and more order. We can fulfill our responsibility better when we are organized.
