Extreme cold, snow kills 4 in northwest China By: Kabir

January 26, 2010

This article tells you about many countries including China has faced one of the most severe winters this year. A storm in western china has damaged 100,000 homes and 15,000 livestock were killed. A drastic drop in the temperature has made it hard for animals and people to find food. Due to the heavy snow fall. Transport routes have been blocked. The government is taking emergency measures to help the people to evacuate to remote areas. Though the government and the population at large are doing their best, the severity and the duration of such extreme weather could overwhelm capacity and resources; Mongolia needs emergency supplies including warm clothing, generators, heating devices and first-aid kits.

My Opinion

My opinion is that we are very blessed and we should do what we can to try to help by sending out warm clothings, food, heathers and water etc.

Eels disappearing from London’s River Thames By Fah:)

January 25, 2010

In the River Thames – London there ar many eels more that 100 and have been there for over hundreds of years. Scientists say that the eels in the river are disappearing. Some of the citizens are worried about the eels disappearing and not coming back because they  eat the eels! Even eels that are trapped in the fishing nets also disappeared. So many peoople are wondering why and how? Some Scientists think that it’s because of the current in the climate change that is making the eels disappear by swimming with the current. This is also a bad thing that is happening because they are part of the food chain so if they disappear that would also give effect to other creatures.

My Opinion:

I think that the eels are disappearing becasue they might be migrating if they migrate?  Or maybe the eels are just dying because of the global warming and pollution in the River. Also maybe the eels are disappearing becasue the people that eat them ate to much so the fisher men have the catch some more eels. So that might have made the people thinking that they are disappearing becasue they are now less of the eels. I think that they should stop eating the eels because that would help alot.

Russia’s time zones

January 25, 2010

Russia has 11 time zones across its vast territory and its leaders believe that’s just too many hours in a day.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev suggested that the country reduce the number of its time zones. With one-ninth of the world’s land mass, Russia stretches from Kaliningrad, which is next to Poland, to more than 5,500 miles to the eastern tip of Chukotka, which is across the Bering Strait from Alaska.
Due to this time difference, when the Kremlin’s bell tower on Red Square tolls 9 a.m. at the start of the day in Moscow, it’s already 6 p.m. in the farthest part of Russia’s Far East.
Less than a quarter of Russia’s 142 million people live east of the Urals-the boundary between Europe and Asia. This huge area constitutes two-thirds of Russia. Russian leaders are planning to cut the time zones from present 11 to 4.
Reducing the time zones to four would likely mean reducing the seven-hour time difference between Moscow and Vladivostok to just four hours. It is life-changing for some people as the daily pattern will be quite different. Supporters say cutting time zones could help bring the distant east closer and build loyalty toward the central government in Moscow. But experience in other countries warns of the opposite effect – a divisive feeling of separation.
Medvedev stressed the need to assess the advantages and the “obvious discomforts” before eliminating some of the time zones.
Earlier also, for different reasons, Russian authorities have tried to change people’s daily life patterns, however, without any success.
Opinion –
I think Russia should reduce the number of time zones so it is easier for travelling in trains and easier transport for planes too. But the problem with that it would change the daily lifestyle of people as they might not be used to waking up early or late.

Marvin News- Poland Refuses to get swine flu vaccine

January 25, 2010

In Poland the goverment refuses to order swine flu vaccines because they said that the vaccine may contain chemicals that might effect there citizens. The goverment doesn’t even accept the swine flu when the 145 people died cause of swine flu. The international organization about medicines are telling the Poland goverment that about 150 million people got the shot and there was no side effects like making someone even more sick. There was theories that drug companies made the swine flu and told the world health organzation to spread news that it was good so they can get rich. Another they didn’t accept it because no one important died because of swine flu.

My opinion:

I think Poland shoul accept it because many people died even if important people didn’t died. I don’t believe in the theorys. I think 150 million people who took the shot was a proof of now side effects.

Same Same but Different…

January 25, 2010

My article is about people is china are same same but differnt. They go to Mcdonald’s and Kentucky Fried Chicken they can discuss the latest pop music they can also discusss what is going on with soccer and basketball games. They can talk just like us but also in eanglish. even thoughthey do most things the same the school isnt, the children must wear uniforms and they also start beging testing for a spot in competitive high schools while they are in the third grade.  In this article Meng Fanrui says “I want to start my own business, want something where I can rely on myself, because I want freedom. In his school they think about their careers early and that is why Meng is going to finish school.

This is the link to the website:http://infoweb.newsbank.com/iw-search/we/InfoWeb?p_product=JRKP&p_theme=kids&p_action=doc&p_docid=106F9255A1B06082&p_docnum=7&p_nbid=X5FO47GFMTI2NDQyNzE0NC45MjYxMDY6MTo1OjE2NDM1

I think that we should respect China as how we respect other contry’s because China is same same but different. I didnt really understand who and why people dont respect China because there is’nt much different. I think Meng Fanrui is very serious by th way he wants to learn so much to star his own business because that way Meng Fanrui came what he calls freedom.
